Ambassador Jordyn Proves FOMO Can Motivate Us

At USC Annenberg, we’re proud that we have the chance to be budding professionals and demonstrate their skills through various campus outlets and outside internships. Our PRDJ Ambassador, Jordyn Holman, shared a few words in her article at the Daily Trojan that will really resonate with graduating seniors around this time of year!

Below is an excerpt from the Daily Trojan:

FOMO can be motivation, not isolation, for college seniors

Most adults will say that we need to disconnect. Yet, as some of us wind down our college careers in the next few weeks or come May for Commencement, millennials should use FOMO as a catalyst to soak in those college experiences. Like most things in the digital age, our undergraduate careers are fleeting. College passes by like a New York minute — even when you live in L.A.

We should want to document our “lasts.” We should accumulate the laundry list of the last football game, last lunch spent at Lemonade, last time sitting carefree in the Quad, last day of class, last finals season — OK, maybe not that one, but you get the point. This time next year, we seniors might not be living very close next to our friends.

5 Projects You Must Try at the Annenberg Digital Lounge

The Digital Lounge is nestled into the third floor of Wallis Annenberg Building (ANN). It’s a creative space where we can study with the best views of campus and participate in free Adobe Creative Cloud workshops to master programs like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. As a pioneer in the digital space, our school has a unique partnership with Adobe that grants all USC Annenberg majors and minors with access to the Creative Suite (It’s epic).

Here are five projects from the Lounge that you have to try (At least once!)

1) Create Your Own Blog and Personal Brand Using WordPress

Personal branding is a heavily discussed topic at Annenberg. What better way to enhance your personal profile than a customized blog (*cough cough, like the one you’re on right now*)? WordPress offers a free platform for its users to to create blog posts and pages. Here’s how to get started:

Introduction to

2) Analyze Data Using Google Analytics

From my interview experiences, being able to think analytically is crucial for pretty much every job I’ve applied to. Here is a video of how you can interpret data that will optimize and increase traffic to your website:

#OnTheDL: Google Analytics

3) Using Your Phone for Adobe Illustrator!

Leave Emojis behind! Start making art with Adobe on your phone!

Creating a Project with Adobe Mobile Apps & Illustrator

4) Why Only Look at Gifs When You Can Make Your Own?

It’s easy and deals with small files. What more can I say?

Adobe Photoshop: Creating .GIFs From Video Files

5) Incorporate YOUR Voice in an Animated Video!

Make a stunning animated video in minutes with Adobe Voice

Which projects are you most excited to try?
